Eligibility Requirements: 2.5 grade point average and maintaining satisfactory progress toward graduation .
Time Commitment: All band classes meet during the school day. Attend required evening concerts throughout the year. Attend other competitive events during the school year.
Activity Time Period: Monday and Thursday 2:45-4:30p.m.Extra rehearsals may be necessary. Students are expected to attend all scheduled rehearsals outside of class time.
Location: Band Room
Procedures for Joining: An audition must be scheduled and passed before determining a position in the Jazz Band.. Auditions will consist of scales, technique, a solo (etude), sight-reading tone and range.
Description: The Jazz bands includes a rhythm section and a horn section. The rhythm section of a jazz band consists of the percussion, double bass and usually at least one instrument capable of playing chords such as a piano or guitar. The horn section consists of wind and brass instruments which play the melody and main accompaniment.
Membership Limit: 25
Varsity Letter:Each Varsity member will receive a letter for completing the season on the Varsity level. Each Sponsor reserves the right to deny a letter to any participant that is incorrigible or violates team rules.
